The History of Clone Fiction
Clone fiction has been around for many moons, even predating the Internet I’m sure, but it wasn’t until someone shared a story about clone on the U.S. SciFi Lexx Billboard that it became communal enjoyment. Readers of said story became curious and a generous soul began creating clones in a virtual lab. Most of these clones were based on Kai, the dead assassin, but there were a few based on Stan, the Captain of the Lexx, and Z/Xev, the love slave. Surprisingly, there have been no requests for a 790 clone to my knowledge…
The desires for clones soon grew past the Billboard and a private mail list was created. Someone else took over the clone creation and stories began popping up all over the place. Here we could get together in a role play fashion, and virtually, we all got to interact.
Sadly, the list split into two groups. The original list was no more, having been deleted, and the two new lists diverged greatly. The list from which this site is based on is a forum for all writers to gather and create stories where rules did not apply. Censorships were removed, barriers demolished. Clones and their companions could frolic free from restrictions. And then that list vanished but not before a new one was created. Once more, clones and companions were free to frolic, or whatever else they did to have fun.
Anyone is welcome to create stories. Clones are often found in the most random of places. Or maybe you wish to create your own. The choice is yours! Once you are with clone, any kind of creation is welcome.
Your clone need not be anything like the original it was based, as they are separate from the original. Much like natural born twins, clones share DNA, but they don’t necessarily share personality.
The relationship you have with your clone is entirely up to you. Your clone may live with you in the real world, accompanying you on such daily activities as grocery shopping. Or maybe you and your clone live somewhere completely fictional and have acquired special abilities. Your clone may be your friend, your lover, your reincarnated goldfish, anything you want. This is the world of fiction, you can create anything you want. Go ahead! Throw the rules of science and convention out the window! Go on! I dare you! Clone fiction is all about being creative and having fun.
Some facts about the dead Kai clones:
*Unlike the original, they are fully “functional.”
*They still require protoblood, but when not available, a substance referred to as “proto-dew” will suffice. But do watch out for side-effects. It is known that immediately after application, the clone will become extremely aggressive in their sexual nature. There maybe be other side-effects as well, but they have not been documented.
*If the protoblood is spiked with a mysterious blue substance resembling Windolene or Windrex, the clone will behave strangely. It has been compared to a psychedelic experience. But each case is unique.
*The consumption of Dew balls (cookies/biscuits laced with proto-dew) will produce a reaction similar to inebriation (the state of being drunk off your tailbone) in humans.
Not much is known about the other clones, so it’s a free for all with them!
Clone fiction has grown since it was originally conceived. Your clone may be from any universe of your choosing. It may have begun in the Light Zone (or Dark Zone) with the characters from Lexx, but it doesn’t have to end there!
